What is 3 Patti?
Teen Patti, also known as flush or flash, is a popular Indian card game. To win, the player needs to have the highest three-card hand as per the Teen Patti hand ranking rules. Three Aces are the highest cards and three twos are the lowest.
Teen Patti Hand Ranking
- Three of a kind (Trio/Trail)- Three cards of the same rank, for example –triple 5 or triple 8.
- Straight Flush – Three consecutive cards of the same suit, for example – Jack, Queen, and King of diamond.
- Straight – Three consecutive cards of different suits, for example – 5 of Heart, 6 of Spade, and 7 of Club.
- Flush (Color) – Three cards of the same suit which are not in sequence, for example, 2, 5, and 8 of heart.
- Pair- As the name suggests, a pair is 2 cards of the same rank. The highest pair is two Aces and the lowest pair is two 2s. If two players have the same pair, the kicker card is used to decide upon the winner.
- High Card- The high card determines the winner if no player holds a hand which comes under any of the above-mentioned categories. If two players hold the high card of the same value, their second and third cards are compared.
Rules to play 3 Patti
The game can be played between 3 to 7 players with a standard deck of 52 cards without jokers.
At the beginning of the game, every participant receives three cards face down. In an online game, card distribution happens automatically. In an offline game, the dealer distributes the cards to all the players sitting at the table.
Every player makes a move (bet, call, or raise) as per the strength of his in-hand cards. Unlike Poker, there is no limit to the betting rounds. Anytime during the game, the players can fold their cards.
The last two players who stay in the game until the end of the betting rounds reveal their cards. The player with the highest-ranking hand becomes the winner.
What is Boot Amount/ante?
Boot amount is the minimum bet which is collected from each participant and kept in the pot.
How to play blind and seen?
Players can choose to play after seeing their in-hand cards (seen) or without seeing them (Blind). The player who is playing blind can check his cards anytime and start playing seen. The amount of money you can bet on the table depends on whether you are playing blind or seen.
Betting rules when you play blind
- You can bet either equal to or double the current stake if the player sitting before you is playing blind
- You can bet only half or equal to the current stake if the player before you is playing seen.

- You can bet twice the current stake if the player sitting before you is playing seen.
- You can bet twice the current stake or 4x the current stake if the player before you is playing blind.
What is a sideshow?
If you and the player who is sitting before you (in a clockwise manner) are playing seen and you have wagered twice the size of the current stake, you can request a sideshow. The player can choose to accept your request or refuse it. If he declines, the betting continues as normal. If he agrees to the slide show, you both compare your cards privately. The player with the lowest ranking card has to fold his cards. If you both hold the cards of equal value, you have to fold your cards as you are the one who requested for the sideshow.
